Emily Long is a seasoned trial attorney and corporate leader currently serving as Chair of the Board and Chief Legal Counsel for Bleecker Street Publications and Athlon Outdoors (as of November 2023).

A graduate of Kenyon College (2002) and Michigan State University’s Detroit College of Law (2006), Emily’s legal career spans both public service and private practice. She began as an assistant prosecuting attorney in Oakland County, Michigan, before transitioning to defense work. Over her career she has tried approximately 75 cases to verdict and has worked as a prosecutor, defense and family law attorney.

Emily is also deeply engaged in public and professional service. She sits on the Board of Directors of the Oakland County Bar Association, and as a legal advocate she focused her practice on defending women and men charged with crimes after properly defending themselves, on advocating for disadvantaged clients, as well as assisting families in high conflict custodial matters.

In the firearms and training community, Emily is an outspoken proponent of education and credibility in self-defense law. Having participated in multiple firearms training courses herself, she works to make legal and operational knowledge more accessible; especially to new gun owners, women, and underrepresented groups.

Her leadership bridges legal expertise and media oversight, positioning her uniquely at the intersection of trial law, firearm culture, and content publishing.
